Strengthening monitoring for the SDGs and selected SDG indicators
The workshop will aim to strengthen the capacities of small island developing States in the Asia-Pacific region and their government officials to improve their ability to compile SDG indicators at national level, including aspects related to data disaggregation, organizing metadata, and linking to relevant data sources. It will also provide a special focus on the indicators selected based on the results of the needs assessment carried out by the partners during last week of July 2019. The preliminary results show that, among those countries who have responded, most prioritized indicators related to poverty measurement (Goal 1), health (Indicator 3.4.1) and the group of indicators requiring the use of financial data and budgetary information (Goal 17 and Indicator 16.6.1). The workshop will be designed in a form of Training-of-Trainers to enable participants to train relevant colleagues in other parts of the National Statistical System.
