EQAP's Curriculum and Assessment Team will convene a workshop to work with several regional agencies and development partners to review the Pacific Regional Teacher Competency Framework. The partners invited to help reshape the decade-old framework include the United Nations Educational and Scientific Organisation, the University of the South Pacific, the Australian Centre for Educational Research (ACER), the Commonwealth Secretariat and the region's departments/ministries of education.
The regional teacher competency framework encapsulates the guiding standards for teacher professionalism in the Pacific. This regional workshop will enable conversations amongst Pacific leaders about what constitutes a competent Pacific teacher who leads learning in Pacific schools. This review is therefore a key opportunity for educational leaders across the region to hold conversations around key questions pertaining to teacher professionalism and teacher quality in the changing educational landscape of the 21st century.
