With almost 90% of households eating fish or seafood weekly, fisheries are now more important than ever for food security and livelihoods in the region.
The SPC's Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Ecosystems (FAME) Division provides scientific advice to Pacific Island Countries and Territories regarding their tuna resources with different tools from observer data through to tuna tagging. From the open ocean, to the lagoon, SPC also assists communities to manage their inshore fisheries resources to support livelihoods, food security and conservation.
