Green News: Abundant Water and the Pacific Community works together to enhance access to drinking water in Timor-Leste

Abundant Water, an NGO that delivers health and hygiene benefits by using the power of social business, was selected by The Pacific Community (SPC) to help local communities in Timor-Leste access to safe drinking water.

Awarded through the Intra-ACP EU Global Climate Change Alliance+ (EU GCCA+) Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change and Resilience Building (PACRES) project, Abundant Water will:
- Install water filters in 5 rural health centres;
- Select and train up to 10 female vendors to establish viable and profitable water filter micro-enterprises;
- Bring over 1000 filters to 10 target areas in rural Timor-Leste.

Abundant Water arrived in Timor-Leste in November 2018. The partnership with SPC will provide an opportunity for increased employment in rural areas and greater health outcomes, it ensures that these impacts can continue into the future once the grant has been used up.
