The International Institute of Sustainable Development has launched the Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) Inventory for Fiji under their Climate Adaption and Protected Areas Initiative, which is an innovative and comprehensive tool designed to enhance conservation efforts and support sustainable development throughout the country.
It focusses on climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable management of both land and marine ecosystems. Key features of the NbS inventory include:
- Maps current projects focussed on climate resilience, biodiversity preservation, and sustainable land and marine management.
- Supports government and community organisations in planning and implementing eco-friendly practices.
- Strengthens data sharing among environmental groups to foster partnerships and informed decision-making.
- Highlights the country’s dedication to utilising natural processes for climate adaptation and sustainable resource management.
This is an innovative step towards enhancing Fiji’s conservation efforts and sustainable development by mapping key projects and supporting sustainable practices.
The Nature Based Solution Inventory Tool not only fosters collaboration among environmental groups but also underscores Fiji's commitment to harnessing natural processes for climate resilience and effective resource management.
