Introduction

This month, we are pleased to introduce more exceptional peer reviewers from our team.

Mr Richardson Raomae

Mr Richardson Raomae is currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner in the Forest Development and Reforestation Division of the Ministry of Forests and Research in the Solomon Islands. With a bachelor’s degree in Forest Science, he has technical expertise in community forestry, forest plantations and research, forest operations, and forest plantation silviculture and seed technology. Since 2013, he has been responsible for overseeing the successful execution of the Solomon Islands Forest plantation development programme. In addition to his role as Deputy Commissioner, he also worked as a part-time consultant for the International Tropical Timber Organization in 2021, during which time he authored the Solomon Islands Timber Portal Report. Mr Raomae's career achievements include significant contributions to various forestry initiatives such as the NZODA customary land reforestation programme and capacity training for landowners and logging operators on new harvesting practices. He has received awards such as Forester of the Year and Forestry Officer of the Year, as well as an AusAID scholarship to study in Australia. Mr Raomae's extensive experience in the forestry sector involves the establishment of the Utilization division within the ministry, the expansion of the Forest Plantation and Reforestation Division, the creation of the Forestry Extension network, and consultancy work funded by the EU. 
 

Mr Brenoki Limen

Receiving the highest mark in agriculture science at Nauru Secondary School, Brenoki Limen is a talented and hardworking individual with a passion for creativity and problem-solving. With a background in computer science and a keen eye for detail, Brenoki excels in designing innovative solutions to complex challenges. His strong analytical skills, coupled with effective communication abilities, make him a valuable team player in any work setting. With a proactive and determined approach to tasks, Brenoki consistently delivers high-quality results and is continuously seeking opportunities for professional growth in the field of agricultural sector development. Graduating with a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and School Leavers, Brenoki is dedicated to furthering his expertise in the agricultural industry.

Mr Anton Lau Lata

Mr Anton Lau Lata is an accomplished researcher in Tropical Plant Sciences with over 20 years of experience. He currently serves as the Manager of the Planted Forest Research Programme at the PNG Forest Research Institute/ PNG Forest Authority. With a Master of Science in Tropical Plant Sciences, his research focus is primarily on Papua New Guinea (PNG). Mr Lata possesses a diverse range of technical expertise, including tree species domestication, germplasm improvement, proposal writing, conducting research, data analysis and capacity development. He is a confident and passionate individual who strives to enhance the profile of the PNG Forest Authority through impactful research outputs, stakeholder engagement, and collaborative research with international partners. Mr Lata has taken on the role of Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research project coordinator at the Forest Research Institute since 2022 and has been recognised for his exceptional contributions, receiving the Scientist of the Year award from the PNG Forest Authority in both 2017 and 2019.
