Fish is one of the main sources of income for Pacific countries, including for coastal communities. Capacity Building is therefore crucial to help them sustainably manage this valuable resource. From 2016 to 2020, fisheries officers, observers, NGOs, private sectors have received SPC training to improve their knowledge, their skills, and their “know-how” to make the best decisions related to their fisheries. This training has included: tuna stock assessment, fisheries data management, community-based fisheries management, fishing techniques, aquaculture, small-business financial skills, Fish Aggregation device deployment and resource surveys to name a few.
