Name Real GDP Per Capita Growth
Definition Measures annual growth in per capita income. Real GDP per capita growth is corrected for inflation and measures the average real income in a country.

Limitations Does not address issues of income distribution. Furthermore, it is not a complete measure of the economic welfare since negative effects of the economic activity e.g. environmental degradation are not taken into account.
Purpose/Rationale Allows for monitoring the changes in individual per capita income over time and in essence monitors growth in earning abilities. It is often used to measure how well off a country is.
