Using drama to battle domestic violence: PW Podcast S02-06

Actions speak louder than words! That is the underlying theme which has inspired an innovative approach to combat violence against women and girls in the Solomon Islands.

The Pacific Community through its Regional Rights Resource Team or RRRT is working in conjunction with the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs in the Solomon Islands to raise awareness on domestic violence in remote and isolated locations through the Access to Justice Program or A2J program.

The A2J program was initiated through SPC in response to increasing reports of domestic violence in the region when in 2012 Pacific Island countries came together and vowed to put an end to this trend. Since then, RRRT has been working with member countries to address the issue through legislation and the implementation of health, legal and counselling services.
