SPC Land Resources Division launches new website

Suva

To capture its growth, progress and enhanced integration into the organization and the wider Pacific community, SPC’s Land Resources Division today launched a completely redesigned and revitalized website that aims to inspire new energy for 2022 and beyond.  The site brings LRD in line with the “One SPC” goal while also serving as a valuable resource for the Pacific in the Division’s four main work themes: Genetic Resources, Sustainable Forests and Landscapes, Sustainable Agriculture and Markets for Livelihoods.

“Though this past year has been challenging for all throughout the region, we are excited to introduce this greatly improved information resource that will help strengthen and add resiliency to our invaluable Pacific lands in a post-COVID future,” said Karen Mapusua, LRD Director.  “We will continue to update and improve the site on a consistent basis so that our visiting community members, partners, government staff, fellow NGOs and SPC colleagues are always informed and inspired to advance agriculture and conserve the plants, trees and soils that are the bedrock of Pacific communities.”

The new site simplifies the old LRD site through a focus on the four LRD work themes, in addition to its integrated programmes. It also consolidates LRD’s extensive ecosystem of professional networks and databases that serve as the veins and arteries of all divisional work. New pages and features, such as an introduction to LRD leadership, access to newly published annual reports, an events calendar and a social media feed, provide a more dynamic and holistic portrait of LRD collaboration and action.

Stepping into 2022, the site will be continually updated and refined to reflect the needs of Pacific communities and the regional environment.
