Meet our team: Nalini’s work towards gender equality

Suva

Meet Nalini Devi who has a passion for travelling the world and a belief that her work directly assists local communities.

As a team member of the Pacific Women Lead at the Pacific Community (PWL at SPC) programme, she believes she is doing her part in helping various communities around the Pacific region.

Nalini is a Finance and Administrative Assistant for the PWL at SPC, Human Rights and Social Development division. With more than eight years of experience in Programme Finance and Administration, she joined PWL late last year and is providing support to the team on finance, procurement, travel and administration, working closely with the division finance helpdesk.

Nalini has a Degree in Bachelor of Commerce – majoring in Accounting and Management and she previously worked for the Australian Government’s supported programme, United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP) and the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO)

Nalini says she has a sense of accomplishment working at PWL at SPC as she is doing her part to achieve gender equality in families, communities and the region.

“The thing that drives me to work is a sense of fulfilment in the work I do.”

She says God is her driving force as she does her work with integrity and passion.

Nalini’s love of travel and experiencing different places, people, foods and adventures prompted her recent Christmas holiday trip to New Zealand, where she particularly enjoyed the cuisine.

She says her love for travel came about because of the many documentaries she watched growing up as a child, which were usually based on different countries of the world and the various foods each country had.

Health is also a priority for Nalini as this year’s resolution is to be healthier as she says, “this year, I started training for my work-life balance; I have a training bicycle at home but decided to go the gym with a friend so I will feel motivated to push myself further.”
