Regional research agenda series: Meet our peer reviewers, Mr Jack and Dr Molimau-Samasoni

This month, we are pleased to introduce more exceptional peer reviewers from our team.

Mr Randon J. Jack 
Mr Randon J. Jack is the Chief of Forestry at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Commerce in Majuro, Marshall Islands. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a focus on Tropical Horticulture from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Fluent in Marshallese, English, and basic Japanese, throughout his career, Mr Jack actively pursues ongoing training opportunities to further develop his skills and knowledge, including participation in programmes such as the World Organization for Animal Health's PVS Pathway Orientation Training Workshop and MASHAV's Training programme on Agricultural Extension for Intensive Vegetable Production: Methods and Tools. Additionally, Mr Jack has a passion for education and has imparted his knowledge by teaching Marshallese Language Arts to World Teach volunteers. With a strong background in agriculture and forestry, he has held various positions within the Ministry, including Assistant Chief of Agriculture, before being promoted to his current role as Chief of Forestry in January of this year. Committed to making a positive impact in his community, he continues to strive for excellence in his work and endeavours to promote sustainable forestry practices in the Marshall Islands. 

 

Masuisuialemalietoa Dr Seeseei Molimau- Samasoni
Masuisuialemalietoa Dr Seeseei Molimau-Samasoni is a highly accomplished professional with expertise in plants and postharvest technologies. She currently serves as the Scientific Research Leader/Manager at the Plants and Postharvest Technologies Division of the Scientific Research Organisation of Samoa. Dr Molimau-Samasoni holds a PhD in Cell and Molecular Bioscience and has focused her research on Samoa. Her technical expertise lies in postharvest research, market access research, horticulture research, agriculture, and medicinal plants. She has been recognised for her exceptional contributions to the field of agriculture and agricultural research through the 2021 Meryl Williams Fellowship from the Women in Agricultural Leadership Capacity Building Initiative at the Australian Centre for International Agriculture Research (ACIAR). Dr Molimau-Samasoni has published 5 refereed journal articles, 2 book chapters, and 11 technical reports. Her research primarily revolves around postharvest handling practices, treatment methods, and quality evaluation of various agricultural produce, with a particular emphasis on the Samoan agriculture context.
