The Government of Niue continues to progress in its strides to face climate change by taking initial steps to develop a nationwide communications strategy on climate change. Implemented within the framework of its Nationally determined contributions, this strategy aims to increase awareness of the climate crisis and its impacts.

The communications plan is being developed in partnership with the Pacific Community (SPC), through the Pacific Regional Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) Hub. “We are proud to offer our support to the Government of Niue to develop this key document, and to assist in mainstreaming climate change communications across all of Government.” said Anne-Claire Goarant, Manager of the Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability (CCES) Programme at SPC.

The strategy aims to raise public awareness of national policies, programmes and projects relating to climate change and its impacts among Niue citizens. It will help the Government of Niue to deliver consistent and targeted messages on climate change and strengthen communication among relevant stakeholders.
