29 July 2022
Earth Overshoot Day: from this Thursday 29th of July we live on credit on the planet. From this date, we have exhausted all the resources that the planet can offer us in one year.
Calculated as every year by the Global Footprint Network, Overshoot Day has returned to the same level as in 2019, "after having been temporarily postponed in 2020 - to August 22 - due to the decline in consumption related to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic," asserts the WWF report.
Currently, Humanity currently uses 74% more resources than the planet's ecosystems can regenerate, which is equivalent to the resources that "1.7 Earths" would produce in a year.
