In 2015, Tonga had the highest right to housing score (Core Standard) among the Pacific: 97%. This right is closely linked to the right to human dignity.

10th of December is the Human Rights Day. 

Historically, adequate housing was recognized as part of the right to an adequate standard of living in the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
