Put some green on your plate !

Noumea

In the current context of non communicable diseases (obesity, diabetes, etc.) that particularly affect Pacific populations, edible leaves can increase the daily consumption of vegetables of inhabitants at lower cost, in a sustainable and responsible way.

During the Food and Innovation Village (VAI) event, held at the House of Culture in Tahiti (French Polynesia) from 28 to 30th of March, Solène Bertrand-Protat, Non-communicable Diseases Adviser, launched the new book produced by the Pacific Community "Edible leaves of the Pacific - Put some green on your plate!". The aim of this publication is to enable Pacific Islanders to cook Pacific green leaves with nutritional benefits (vitamins and minerals) that we can grow on our own or found at a low-cost market.
