The Pacific Community SPC is pleased to announce the appointment of Elsie Fukofuka as the Regional Director, Polynesia at the Pacific Community's (SPC) Regional Office in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, effective since 23 February 2024.
Elsie has dedicated over 19 years of her career to the service of the Government of Tonga. Elsie most recently held the position of Head of the Pacific within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in leading and managing the Pacific Division, ensuring strategic engagement with bilateral, regional, and multilateral partners.
Elsie brings her wealth of experience in facilitating program implementation and delivery to stakeholders, mobilizing resources for development, and acting as a key foreign policy advisor on the Pacific to highranking officials. Notably, Elsie played a crucial role in establishing SPC’s Polynesia Regional Office (PRO) in Nuku'alofa, Tonga.
Elsie’s academic background includes a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford, providing her with the necessary skills for policy analysis crucial to addressing complex global issues in the Pacific region.
Her dedication to serving her country and the Pacific is evident in her strong partnerships and networks within the region. Elsie demonstrates leadership in her ability to build empathy and mutual understanding across working with a diverse range of partners on regional and international platforms.
