9th screening & closing ceremony - third Pacific Human Rights Film Festival

​The Pacific Community (SPC), The University of the South Pacific (USP), and The UN Human Rights Office (UNOHCHR) invite you to attend the final event and closing ceremony of the third Pacific Human Rights Film Festival, on Saturday 9 December 2023 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm (Fiji time) at The University of the South Pacific (USP)'s ICT Japan Pacific Multimedia Theatre in Suva. We will be screening 'High Tide Don`t Hide' on youth climate activism.

Programme

2:00 pm – Event starts.

2:10 pm – Welcome Remarks

  • Ms Heike Alefsen, Regional Representative UN Human Rights Pacific Regional Office 
  • Mrs Loukinikini Vili Lewaravu, Director, Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission  

2:30 pm – VOU Dance Performance

2:45 pm – Film Screening 'High Tide Don't Hide'.

4:15 pm – Panel Discussion & Q&A - Panelists include:

  • Ozayr Akbar, USP Politics and Law Graduate
  • Salote Nasalo, Climate activist
  • Sophie Handford, Kāpiti Coast District Councillor, featured in the film 'High Tide Don't Hide'
  • Elizabeth Rova, National Human Rights Officer - youth and children, UN Human Rights Pacific Regional Office (Moderator)
